Mini-Rumble

Fandom/s: Any
Theme: an icon rumble
Total number of icons: 2
Suggested amount of time to finish the battle: 12 days - May 12th
Status: CLOSED

I modified the idea of an icon rumble because those have multiple rounds (8-10) and require ongoing participation by those that sign up. I thought I'd scale it down a bit.

For this mini-rumble, we'll do 2 rounds at the same time.
ROUND 1 - negative space
ROUND 2 - close crop

Submit: Submit icons in a comment to this entry. Comments are screened, please don't share your icons until the results post.

Feedback: I'll make a post for feedback. Positive feedback and constructive criticism will be solicited, comments will be screened. There will be no voting, everyone walks away a winner.

Results: Positive feedback will be shared in a results post - constructive feedback, if applicable, upon request of the icon maker. Participants are also welcome to share any alternates they made.

Questions? I'll leave a question thread unscreened on this post below.

now i have a question after all. how is the concrit going to be done? i think it's important to state that clearly in advance, because i know some people are afraid to a) criticize or b) have their work criticized.

I personally always liked the way cool_spectrum did it in her rumbles at [livejournal.com profile] calendarsquares. Concrit is given in screened comments, to the moderator. The recipient has to request the concrit roundup and is sent all the concrit for their icons, but without the names of the commenters attached. This is a bit of work for the moderator, but everything stays nicely anonymous. (And the moderator knows who said what and can tell people to improve their comments, which avoids mean/accidentally bad anonymous concrit.)

I would also love to have public concrit, actually, because it is just always very helpful to read concrit, even of other people's icons. But I think maybe this can be part of the first idea as well. At calendarsquares, you could only get concrit as DM or private comment. But maybe it should be allowed to the maker to make the comment public later, if they like what they got and are comfortable sharing?

Also, if you want to link to good concrit examples, here is a link:

I also talked about some of the concrit I got for rumbles and don't mind having that shared.

(I had to link to the lj version here because the icons don't show up anymore on the dw side... I'll have to fix that. :( )
